Shawarma (Filipino Style)
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
- 2 kg ground pork
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp annatto powder
Creamy Garlic Sauce
- 2 cups plain mayonnaise
- 1 cup all-purpose cream
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 –3 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ cup warm water
- ½ tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp grated fresh garlic
- 1 tsp vinegar
Cheese Sauce
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup all-purpose cream
- ½ cup grated cheese
- 2 tbsp powdered cheese for color
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup water to adjust thickness
Wrap & Toppings
- Spinach wraps
- Lettuce shredded
- Whole kernel corn
- Cucumber sliced
- Tomatoes diced
- Onion sliced
Instructions
- Heat cooking oil, add ground pork, and cook until lightly browned
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, sugar, and annatto powder, stir and cook until fully done and slightly crispy
- For garlic sauce, mix all ingredients until smooth and creamy, chill before using
- For cheese sauce, melt butter, add flour, cook for 1 minute, then pour in cream, water, grated cheese, and powdered cheese, season with salt, stir until thickened
- To assemble, place cooked pork in spinach wrap, add lettuce, corn, cucumber, tomatoes, and onion, drizzle both sauces, then wrap tightly
